Indo Swiss Buddhist School

The Greater Himalayan Buddhist Welfare society formed and registered in 2005, is running a school named Indo-Swiss Buddhist School at kalath, foundation stone of which has been laid down by former forest minister of Himachal Pradesh Mr. J. P. Nadda, in the presence of former MLA Kullu Mr. Govind Singh Thakur and Mr. Jean Paul Dentan, Sponsor of the School, on dated 18th April 2008 at Kalath near Manali. This school is a co-educational boarding and lodging School where all the students from poor background, orphan or with single parent are provided free hostel, books, stationeries, uniforms and health care etc. without any fee. The expenses are met out from the generous donations of some sponsors from different countries mainly from Switzerland and India as well. More than 120 students are studying from 1st class to 10th class. The school is recognized by H.P. Govt. and also affiliated to the H.P. Board of School Education, Dharamshala.
Nearly 14 years have passed since the establishment of our School, which has been serving, since 2006, not only the Buddhist children of Lahoul Spiti, Paldar,UT. Ladakh, Zanskar, Kullu and Manali, but also children of different religious backgrounds from the regions of Kullu, Manali, Pangi, Lahoul- Spiti, Mandi, etc. Almost six batches of students have been passed out from school till date and pursuing their higher studies from different states. Some of our students are serving for the country in Indian Army. Almost 120 kids are currently being cared for and educated thanks to our most generous sponsors and other donators who have financed all our premises and its facilities. Therefore, we have not sought involvement with undignified political activities nor with dubious behaviour. Neither in the past nor in the coming future, a single penny has ever been given, collected or sought from dubious sources.
Indo Swiss Buddhist School is a charitable institute situated in village Batahar, Bihal Kalath Distt Kullu HP involved in providing positive outlook and quality education for the children belonging to under-privileged areas and poor background of different states. With this great purpose, we are determined to do all round development of each, and every child and we are also focusing on building their self-confidence which will help them stay on course in their personal and professional lives through their dedication and commitment. If a plant is carefully nurtured by a gardener, it will become good and produce better fruits. Thanks to all our sincere teachers for working towards making our students future bright. I extend my good wishes to all of you. Let's strive sincerely with all our might to fulfil this great aim to provide creative education with lots of opportunities to our children.
